The LAHP Placement Scheme

The LAHP Placement Scheme aims to match the interests, skills and training needs of LAHP students with the needs and priorities of LAHP cultural partners, leading to a number of small-medium scale collaborative projects. LAHP can support both students and cultural partners in arranging placement opportunities.

Placements can be undertaken at times most convenient for all parties and there is no set structure for how they can be taken. The duration can be flexible (usually up to 6 months), although students must undertake these before the end of year 3 of their PhD.

Placements enable students to develop, and support all kinds of interpretation and content for museums and galleries, engage the public in fresh and interesting ways, experience a working environment in a different sector from academia, discover new ways of working and new methodologies, and develop their employability skills.

Find out more about how both students and cultural partners can benefit from the placement scheme by watching this short video about Laura Forster’s (LAHP-funded KCL student) placement at V&A.
