Building CVs for non-academic careers
Where:- Online via Teams
When: 11am – 12.30pm, Thursday 30th April 2026
There is good evidence to show that a PhD in the Arts and Humanities can enhance employability and income prospects outside as well as within academia, but this is by no means a given. Among the key factors shown to promote longer-term career benefits are the relationship between research and wider activities, and impact achieved during the PhD. The development of transferable skills for application beyond the research environment is of central importance here, and the resulting benefits are reciprocal, for both employers and employees. This introductory online session is designed to help doctoral students plan their research and work placements with a view to maximising these career advantages. Participants will learn to identify and target skills, experience and outcomes to strengthen their CV and future career prospects.
