Research: Framings and Reframing – Exploring the Intersections of Social Sciences and the Arts and Humanities.

This course is best suited to those who are close to finalising their research design for a study with a qualitative component. The interconnected three sessions will problematise existing research approaches within the Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts. Sessions will facilitate an exploration of alternative perspectives through a reframing of existing research paradigms with a view towards reimagining qualitative research as a libertarian engagement between the researcher, and the researched. Please note that this is not a ‘how to’ research short course, and challenges existing Eurocentric paradigms through an act of embedded decolonisation. Candidates are encouraged to keep this in mind before they sign up and to attend sessions with an open mind, a willingness to consider approaches that challenge the status quo, and to treat any arising discomfort through a lens of curiosity.
