Creativity for Wellbeing workshop – 27th January 2021  (Previous Student-Led Activities)

An online collaging workshop with artist Rebecca Lindum Greene

Wednesday 27th January 2021 (1pm-4pm)

We warmly invite PhD students from all disciplines to participate in an online collaging workshop with artist Rebecca Lindum Greene (Honorary Artist in Residence, Institute of Criminology, Cambridge) and fellow student Aysha Strachan (KCL/LAHP-funded).

(}… Inspired by the artist’s work in providing opportunities to create art in prisons through ‘Drawing Connections …at the edges’, this workshop speaks to the value of creative practice and looking after our mental health in times of confinement…{)

((–While clearing our minds from the stress and trauma of the previous year and seeking clarity for the academic year to come, we offer participants the opportunity to reconnect to art, seeking solace in creativity and the natural world. We will produce individual collages through guided breaks, musical interludes and time spent outdoors (if a natural space is available to you)–))

Using collected household materials together with gatherings from nature, participants are given a chance to practice self-care and reflection on our work as researchers along the way. Discussing our creations in small breakout groups -(}**{)- we hope to find new connections to our research, considering new perspectives on our work and practicing the skill of presenting our fields to students from a variety of research backgrounds.

No previous artistic experience required! We will send a list of easily-accessible household materials and a zoom link ahead of the session.

Please get in touch at aysha.strachan@kcl.ac.uk if you have any questions and/or wish to discuss accessibility arrangements.

Use the Google-Form to sign up by the Wednesday 20th January.

Below you can see some of the beautiful collages created by the workshop attendees.
