PhD – the basics: Introduction to Interdisciplinary Research (guest lecture)

This workshop introduces the concept of interdisciplinary research and what is involved in extending knowledge across disciplinary boundaries. What does the term ‘interdisciplinary’ mean ontologically, epistemologically and methodologically? What are the implications for HDR students pursuing projects with complex aims and outcomes? The workshop investigates how truth-claims are made by different disciplines in the arts and humanities field, and how common ground may be established between them. The workshop comprises a formal lecture, followed by a number in-class activities.
