Working with and working in museums

Collaborations between museums and academics are a way for both sides to expand the richness of a research project, to enhance creative practice, to inject new insights and narratives into the collection, and to broaden the access of institutions and researchers to different audiences. Collaborations can be co-planned from the beginning of the project or can be interventions during the lifespan of a research initiative. This workshop will explore key facets of working with and in museums including:

-Managing expectations on both sides
-Recognising that some rules are not meant to be broken
-Compromising and pivoting
-Disrupting the status quo
-Evaluation and reflective practice
