The contestation of state-society relations and citizenship in Mexico and Colombia
The study addresses the way in which state-society relations manifest themselves in contemporary Mexico and Colombia. This involves analysing how citizenship, as a key expression of state-society relations, is perceived of and practiced in certain areas of these countries. How different regimes of citizenship are constructed and contested within society is a key inquiry of the project, as is the way in which such regimes relate to alternative legal cultures and practices.
