Ukrainian Art and Cultural Institutions in Exile

The Ukrainian cultural scene is defined by sporadic, individual projects which invent unconventional survival mechanisms and innovative artistic languages regardless of the insufficient infrastructure, dramatically changing socioeconomic circumstances and an ongoing war wedged by the Russian Federation.

This study aims to examine how and to what extent the operational strategies and aesthetic-political vocabulary developed by Ukrainian Art and Cultural projects can have global pertinence and produce global insights. Ukrainian self-organised cultural scene in exile is urgent to study, not only because of its temporary nature and the constant threat of political and cultural oppression but also because of its contribution to methodological and theoretical developments and better informed cultural policy globally.
