Translating Monstrosity: Constructions of Difference in Early Modern England and France
The project aims to investigate the way in which processes of translation shaped the cross-cultural knowledge exchange of monstrosity between sixteenth and seventeenth century France and England. Contributing to the historiography of knowledge, translation and bodies, it will explore the centrality of the translative process to shaping and reshaping bodily knowledge. In doing so it hopes to speak to broader interest in and appetite for knowledge of monstrosity in the early modern world.
