EMOTIONAL SPACES OF CONTENTION. The audience’s role in the process of semi ephemeral public art production during the Chilean feminist social movements, 2018-2020

Collective action is observable worldwide: groups articulating their political claims, usually accompanied by artistic expressions. This project aims to examine the influence of semi-ephemeral-public-art in articulating projects of socio-political renewal addressing three gaps in the literature by exploring the audience’s role and reception, the (re)constitution of space, and the mobilization of emotion. These gaps will be synthesized into one theoretical concept of emotional space of contention and will be explored regarding feminist social movements in Santiago de Chile, 2018-2020. A qualitative research design suitably combines the conceptual approach with a holistic and interdisciplinary perspective that melds discourse and spatial analysis methodologically.
