An Anthropology of Immersive Media in the UK

This project explores the experiences of artists who are adopting virtual reality (VR) technology in their practice. Through imbedded ethnographic research, I trace how artists are negotiating the sensory politics of VR design with their attempts to expand the possibilities for multisensory immersion. My research also exposes how their work gives rise to interdisciplinary concepts and techniques for collaborating across art, design, and engineering.
