An assessment of the comparative relationship between the Genesis 3:14-19 curse narrative with other ancient Western Asian curse and creation myths, with a view to then analyse the impact of this comparative relationship on a feminist interpretation of Genesis 3:14-19.

The aim of this project will be to assess the comparative relationship between Genesis 3:14–19 and other ancient Western Asian curse and creation myths. This project will then analyse the impact of that comparative relationship on a feminist interpretation of Genesis 3:14–19. It is the hope of this project to expound and advance the understanding of Genesis 3:14–19 as an aetiological addition to the Genesis 3 narrative. In doing so this work aims to offer a proposed reading of Genesis 3:14-19 which, not only has in mind other ancient Western Asian curse and creation myths, but also seeks to liberate and empower all women in their current contexts.
