London after the Blitz: Film, Architecture, Culture, 1940-1960

My research aims to offer a new perspective on visual culture during the two decades after the Blitz by examining the role of film in the reconstruction process. It seeks to provide insight into the city’s fluid geography through detailed textual analyses of films that convey the transitional life of the post-war metropolis. By connecting architecture, planning, reconstruction, culture, and cinema, my project offers a distinct reading of the London’s everyday life in the 1940s and 1950s.
