What’s next? Where can you go with an arts and humanities PhD?
We are living in a time characterised by what Franco Berardi called ‘the slow cancellation of the future’, in which earlier assumptions about social progress and cultural innovation can no longer be relied upon. In academia, we are finally seeing widespread acceptance of what has long been clear: that the PhD can no longer be considered a pipeline to an academic career. In this context, thinking about what to do after your PhD can be extremely difficult, and the answers offered can be frustratingly vague. This study day will gather academics, researchers working outside the academy and the people who employ them, as well as LAHP alumni to discuss potential career paths for PhD graduates, and how best to prepare yourself for them.
This event is organised by the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP), grant ref AH/R012679/1. This consortium, including this event, is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). By registering for this event, you agree to your information (name, email address, organisation, UKRI-funded status) to be shared with UKRI. The number of UKRI-funded and non-UKRI funded attendees are reported to UKRI annually, as aggregated data.
