Rianna Walcott, LAHP-funded PhD student at King’s College London Department of Digital Humanities, has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland (UofM).

From September 2022, Rianna will be based at The Black Communication and Technology Lab at UofM
Research at this new lab will focus on race and technology, as well as the development of a pipeline programme to introduce undergraduates and those in the wider community to the field of Black digital studies with the aim of working towards a more “equitable digital future”.
“I’m very grateful and excited to have been accepted for a role in such a prestigious department that is host to so many of the scholars I’ve admired for so long,” Rianna says, “I’m really looking forward to adding a Black British perspective to Black Digital Humanities research, and hope I make KCL DDH proud on the other side of the pond!”
Professor Stuart Dunn, Head of Department of Digital Humanities also expressed his delight in Rianna’s success, “This achievement recognises [Rianna’s] scholarship on Black identity and representation, her activism, and the contribution she continues to make to discourses of decolonisation and anti-racism in the Digital Humanities. I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to Rianna and hope she will keep in touch!”
Congratulations!
