German Volkslieder (folks songs) in the period ca. 1760–1810

I am interested in how social realities are dealt with in songs written by and for the ‘Volk’. In particular issues of class, poverty, infanticide and war will be explored in songs by Gleim and Anna Louisa Karsch, as well as in the Volkslied collections made by Arnim and Brentano and Rudolph Zacharias Becker.
