The reception of Greek lyric poetry in imperial Greek literature

The aim of my project is to analyse the way in which ancient lyric poets such as Pindar, Sappho and Anacreon were “received” and perceived as cultural icons in imperial Greek literature, in particular in rhetorical literary production. I am working on quotations and mentions of these authors in a set of chosen imperial writers in order to identify which particular features characterised their imperial image.
