Beyond Linguistic Translations of Marginalised Texts

My project aims at enhancing the representation of marginal voices from minor languages and cultures. I explore alternative approaches to translation in order to ensure that seemingly untranslatable texts can enter the cultural domain. I focus on the writings of protofeminist Soviet-Georgian authors. I explore the ways in which contemporary art practices can contribute to mediating their texts. I work across curating, painting, drawing and clay to create a new methodology for translating the texts.
