Raising your public and professional profile: 2 sessions
3rd and 10th March 2021, both 2-5pm
Networking (3rd March) – This course is not about conferences, cups of coffee and working a room. Instead it helps researchers to develop ways of networking that suit them and their research. It involves using a framework to examine your existing networks, and to identify where they need improvement to help you with your career. A main focus of the session will be to equip you with tips, tricks and ideas that you can combine to make your networking strategy, including looking at mentoring opportunities and non-traditional networking routes.
Profile Raising (10th March) – This course covers motivation for profile raising, including whether it’s public or sector profile you’re interested in raising, then takes a case study-based approach, looking at other researchers who have successfully raised their profile. it covers using social media effectively as part of a strategy, including how to link your social media and real world profile-raising effectively. We’ll cover the audiences for profile-raising and how to make the most of your effort.
Each session is limited to 16 participants.
Students are allowed to attend both sessions or attend one of the two sessions
