Re: seen women – reframing women artist and cultural agents within collection and archival space.
The research will uncover the unknown histories of national and international careers of women artists between 1918-1938; showcase their artworks and lived experience via the production of installations that include text, performance and sculpture; and develop a methodological approach that considers its critical application to collections and archives highlighting the misrepresentation of women and other marginalised groups in these spaces. Using UCL Art Museum collection as a case study, the research will shift between 2D, 3D, and digital space, with outcomes enabling an audience to inhabit a three – dimensional version of the archive as a live and active space.
