Music, Technology and French Identity during the Fourth Republic

My research focuses on the collisions between music and technology, and how these interacted with national identity in Fourth Republic France. The connection between these two elements provides an invaluable way to evaluate the country’s position between the years 1946 and 1958. Considering how technological developments opened up new possibilities for the musical avant-garde, I turn to radio and film in order to trace how French identity developed in the postwar years.
