Generation ‘post-’? (Post-)Migration, Memory and Jewishness in German-language Third-Generation Literature

I aim to explore the relationship between post-Holocaust and (post)migration identities by examining texts by
third-generation authors and thereby aspire to account for paradigm shifts in Holocaust memorization and the
development towards an increasing societal diversity as a result of migration. I will ask how these authors
negotiate identity, memory and belonging in light of these socio-cultural shifts. I intend to examine the potential
of the newly evolved discourse of ‘postmigration’ in the context of the texts’ depictions of and reflections on
notions of belonging, and aim to provide an innovative framework for approaching German-language Jewish
literature and Holocaust memory.
